What is the best website to search for travel deals?
I’m looking to travel from Los Angeles to New York sometime this year.
kayak.com and sidestep.com so far are the best to help you find the best deals. Then they send you to the websites they found the deal, and then you pay. try it!

There is no best website. You still have to check around. Try the following:
http://www.kayak.com
http://www.sidestep.com
If you find a good fare on these then go to the individual airlines. Sometimes you can get a better fare.
Sometimes a package is better, hotel and airfare. You have to try all your sources. Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com etc. The industry is not static and over the years which one is best keeps changing and evolving especially since some are bought by the competition.
