Do I need hotel reservations for a trip to Mexico?
I will be traveling in Mexico in the end of May and beginning of June. I plan to visit Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo, and Mexico City, if that makes a difference. I’m probably going to stay in a low or mid range hotel.
Will I have to spend a lot of time looking for a place to sleep if we don’t have reservations?
I’ve done driving tours around Mexico several times and I would only book in advance the hotel in the first city I was going to stay. Then you have the flexibility to stay in a town longer if you really like it. In all my travels in Mexico, I only remember one hotel that turned me away because they were full and that was because they were unloading a bus full of German tourists when I pulled up. And that was on the Yucatan peninsula.
Around that time, no it’s not a high season so you should be fine.

I would recommend for you to book in advance if you want cheaper rates and especially if you already know the dates and the places your going to. Even though it is not peak season the cities you’re visiting have many tourists, national and international.
I would book in advance, I would not recommend a Motel in Mexico.
