Best company to use when making hotel reservations?
We are unable to get into the villa we rented a day earlier so have decided to stay at a hotel for one night,( April 20th 2007). We have chose the Best Western Lakeside, which is the best company to use to make this reservation? I’m going to need two rooms but I have noticed Priceline wants 73 a night for a standard room and another place only wanted 50 a night for the same type of room. I just don’t know who to go with and not get ripped off. Thanks in advance! ![]()
Thanks everyone! I ended up calling the hotel directly and got each room for 46 a night which includes all taxes.
It depends on who the other company is and if it is one of the more popular sites.
Personally, I don’t like dealing with sites like Priceline, Orbitz, etc. They are fine to just book the reservation and be done with it, but if there is a problem or something needs to be changed, the customer service is awful. There are also a lot of problems that seem to happen with these type sites, most of which don’t get resolved properly.
I would first check with the hotel directly, or your travel agent, and ask what their best rate is. Ask for any possible discount you may be eligble for. If the rates are close, then I would book it that way, just to be on the safe side.
Otherwise, I guess I would go with Priceline, mainly because I don’t know what the other company is. If it is one of the companies like Expedia, Orbitz, etc. then you should have equal success with any of them, so go with the better rate.
Have a great time

The best you can do is actually call the hotel directly. Online offers are just that, they only offer what they can and alot of times the rooms are blocked or occupied already. Calling direct can give you the best results possible. If you need the phone numbers to those specific Hotels, you can always dial 1-800-555-1212 and ask for the free number and in turn receive the direct number.

Have mapped and traveled for years, booking weeks in advance and knew where I was going.
