I want to know what Hotel or resort has lots of activities and entertaiment on New Year’s eve or New year’s day so we know where to stay.

They all will celebrate New Year’s in some way and have activities lined up for you to enjoy. What is the best…it’s hard to say. I would do some research to see what activities hotels are offering. A few that I would try would be Hyatt Cancún, Me by Meliá, Temptations Resort & Spa, Dreams Resort & spa, any Riu hotel chain is a great choice. There are three Riu Cancún, Riu Palace Las Americas, Riu Caribe. Le Meridien is a nice hotel that offers a french flair to it. The list goes on, so it’s hard to say what one is going to have the best entertainment. The first link is for Gran Caribe Real and they are offering a hotel package you may find interesting. Any resort you choose will be nice because it’s New Year’s in beautiful Cancún. Good luck on what you choose!!!

You should do your research first. If you want something warmer and more star like, I suggest a Hollywood vacation. Room prices vary but you get the best deals from the Hotels themselves. Come on Kim, coming from SF you should know better. There aren’t any hotels here for that price that aren’t nests for roaches, dirt, and bedbugs. Price for an average hotel is $100. And since 30 minutes only gets you about 10 miles in LA traffic, that narrow an impossible task even further. Let me ask you this: Could you do the same for me if I wanted to stay within 30 minutes of downtown SF for under $50?

If you must, then try the "America’s Best Value Inn" on Beach Blvd near I-5. Cheap, nothing fancy, and about a 10 minute drive from Disneyland.

What are the days and time that they are actually allowed to carry out the work?

When hotels are carrying out renovation / refurbishment, are they supposed to put up a sign board indicating the contractor, contact numbers, etc? If not, whom should we report to? If residence around the neighbourhood encounter some problems, e.g. fire alarm of the hotel ringing non-stop, who should the the residence contact?

In the US, they’re almost certainly being paid bonuses to work weekends. Because the hotel wants the job done as fast as possible. Depending on the area they’re in, they are probably banned from doing loud work like jackhammering in the night, but there’s no reason at all that quieter work can’t go on 24/7. Although usually the work is no more than 12 hours a day.

When the job site is open, there will be some sort of office/trailer onsite with a person who works for the general contractor. If an alarm goes off at night though, you may have to wait until morning to have it dealt with… the police don’t have the authority to go in there and smash things up just to shut them up. Since it’s a renovation job though, the hotel fire alarms should already be tied to a security company and/or the local fire station, who should come out and investigate any alarms.

Typically, the in-room "jetted tubs" (can’t call them Jacuzzi tubs unless they are actually made by Jacuzzi Co.). are just oversized bathtubs with jets.

They won’t have the water already in them, as they’re not like the hot tubs you find by pools at a lot of hotels (where the water is treated with chlorine, etc.).
