How to graph multiple airfare rates over time?
I want to effectively graph the cost of airfare from Manhattan to Shanghai over a long period of time. However, I want to graph multiple airlines.
Could you please suggest a good way to execute this (i.e. good websites that provide this information, etc.) as well as how I should setup the x and y axes?
Wow, that is a difficult task. Airfares can’t easily be compared. Some tickets requires advanced purchase. Tickets may have rules that you must be staying a Saturday night. Some tickets are changeable and refundable. Weekdays change price. Connecting flights may have another price. Even time of day can affect price.
So you must decide on some criteria before you can compare tickets, for example:
Cheapest available ticket purchased 30 days before departure and staying x days before returning. Departure any time of the day. Non-stop.
Then you will have to find a website like expedia.com and repeat this search every day/week for the period you want, depending on the scale you want. I guess weekday.
X-axis should be date and Y-axis price.

How much is the cheapest return airfare from New Zealand to America?
$1758 NZD currently: http://www.farecompare.com/search/year.html?departure=AKL&destination=LAX&cabin=Coach&tripType=roundtrip&nonstops=false&p=1 … but you can sign up for fare sale alerts via that page, too.
Where should I go to estimate the cost of airfare?
I’m trying to find a round trip from Sacramento CA to any airport in Tokyo during June of 2008. What internet source should I use to estimate airfare? I don’t need any elaborate interenet sites just something simple.
Well there is more than one web-site,
www.orbitz.com
www.travelocity.com
www.kayak.com
travel.yahoo.com
There are more as such listed web-sites but these are the best in my opinion…
For help in aircraft seating detail and information go here :
www.seatguru.com
PS: I always find international flights cheaper at a travel agencie but sometimes websites have good fares.
Hope I’m help, good luck….
What’s the best site to purchase cheap airfare?
I’m looking for airfare for Christmas and would like to save as much money as possible!
I’m in the US looking for a one-way flight.
Christmas airfare is always high. But here’s what you do:
1) Go on any generic site and search what route is available. For example, expedia can be a good starting point.
2) Once you are quoted a price from expedia, try going to that airline’s main website and see if you can find it cheaper on the site itself (it often is).
3) If it isn’t cheaper on the airline site, then check out flightcenter, travelocity, or stick with expedia or any other generic airline flight, including orbitz. Check sunwing airlines too.
4) Or just post what dates and departure/arrival locations ur looking for and someone can just post the cheapest price on here for you- if they’re nice.
Deduct airfare and other expenses related to study abroad?
My husband, a full-time grad student in Ohio, spent one semester studying abroad at a university in Chile. Can we deduct his airfare and living expenses on our tax return? I stayed here and paid 100% of costs of household, but additionally we had to pay rent, groceries, etc. for him while he was gone. How should we handle this on our return?
It doesn’t go on your return. These are personal expenses.

When will there be sales on airfare for the summertime?
On all of the airfare sites I’m seeing a lot of winter sales. I’m planning a trip to Europe in July and I wanted to know when the best time to buy those tickets are. Will there be sales for summer soon?
For the most part, the sooner the better. I find that if you check every day, you’ll find something. Just keep looking!
Best time to buy cheap airfare to Disney World in September?
We will be going to Walt Disney World in September. I haven’t bought the airline tickets yet. The fares are still a bit too high (Indianapolis to Orlando) so I have been waiting for a lower price. How much longer should I wait? When is the most economical time to buy a low-cost airfare ticket for September flights? Thanks!
Sounds good! The only thing is that my dates are fixed: Leave September 13th, Return September 19th. I know those days of the week aren’t ideal, but those are the days I have to travel, unfortunately.
you really need to buy them now. first of all the rates will continue to go up until the gas prices come down and that is not happening any time soon. i am going to disney december 27th to january 2nd and i have already purchased my airfare. secondly seats for orlando fill up fast. and usually just small planes with 2 seats the isle and 2 more seats. trying to get seats too close to the date you are leaveing would be a big mistake. you wouldn’t want to forefit you trip because you couldn’t get a flight. i urge you not to wait.
What is the least expensive airfare to Europe?
I live close to Nairobi (NBO) Kenya. I have never been outside of Africa.
I would like to fly to some country in Europe and be there for about a week to see what Europe is like. I know each country has unique things about it. I would like to fly to the country that has the least airfare for me. Also what would be the cost of a visa for that country?
When you answer my questions let me know what currency you are stating-
Is it Kenyan shillings, or US dollars or Euros.
The rate always depends upon the aviation company, day of booking and the date of travel. These criteria decides the travel fare. If you book in advance the fare will be less.
